What a client brief is
A client brief is the starting point of every Digital Advisory engagement. It sets out the decision on the table, the context around it, the options being weighed and the specific questions the client wants challenged. The client's identity is anonymised before the brief reaches any advisor, so the input that comes back responds to the decision rather than to the name on the letterhead.
Why the brief shapes the value of the answer
The quality of independent input tracks the quality of the question. A brief that names the assumption leadership is least sure about will draw sharper challenge than one that asks for general views on a market. Writing the brief is itself useful preparation: teams often find that forcing the decision onto a page exposes how much of the case rests on things nobody has checked.
How it differs from an RFP or a survey
A client brief buys judgement, not a proposal or a sample. Nothing is being tendered, no vendor is pitching for follow-on work, and the operators who respond have no stake in what the organisation decides. The output is a structured report responding to the brief.
